SMAD 342: Elements of Creative Advertising

SMAD 342 introduced the fundamentals of advertising design and content production. In this course, I learned the functions and basics for design for radio, print, out of home, and digital mediums. I worked with a group for this course. Displayed below is my individual works as well as the creative briefs for each project.

Throughout the course of the semester, I worked alongside group members Miranda Morrone, Rebecca Smith, and Grace Manganaro to analyze clients, target audiences, and competitions. Together we made the objectives, desired mindsets, the big ideas, and the key emotions of the projects. We worked together to research the brands/products, the mediums, and the target audiences. Working together produced the creative briefs and final proposals for these projects.

Warfel’s Chocolates Print & OOH Ads

I worked alongside group members to create both a print ad and an Out of Home ad. I worked alone on the creation of the print ad. The main purpose of the print ad was to be displayed in magazines in the Harrisonburg community. I used Adobe software to make the roughs and final product of the print ad campaign. As a group, we created storyboards, compiled inspiration, and made the creative brief for the final outcome of the campaign project.

Madison Advising Peers Radio & Video Ads

Radio Ad
Video Ad

I worked alongside group members to create both a radio and video ad for Madison Advising Peers. As a group, we created storyboards and scripts for both ads as well as a comprehensive creative brief. I recorded, edited, and starred in both the radio and video ads.

Yellowstone National Park x New Balance Digital Interactive Ads

I worked alongside group members to create four digital interactive ads for Yellowstone National Park and New Balance. I was responsible for the Facebook ad where I used interactivity for the consumer to create/view customizable NB shoes. As a group, we created storyboards and scripts for both ads as well as a comprehensive creative brief.
